The Port, like all Washington ports, has a unique mandate: family-wage job creation. Ports are the only public entities with the primary goal of economic development. How is the Port Spending Your Tax Dollars? |
The Port’s mission is economic development.
Limited tax dollars are used to build infrastructure, buildings, facilities and programs for businesses that in turn employ people, who then spend their money in the community. The Port strives to keep operating costs as low as possible without sacrificing maintenance of facilities. Our long-term goal is to reduce reliance on taxes to cover operations and use those dollars to provide capital improvements for the Port and the community.
